Switching to Kagen Cloud

Moving is our job, not your homework.

We move your domain, email and website for you, planned so nothing goes quiet: mail keeps arriving and your site stays up. Here's exactly how it goes, and what we'll ask you for.

How a move goes, step by step

  1. Day 1 · a 15-minute call

    Tell us what you have

Where your domain is registered, where your email and website live today, how many people use email, and what bothers you about it. If you don't know, that's fine: we'll find out from your domain.

  2. Within a few days

You get a plan and a price

A short written plan: what moves, in what order, on which date, and what it costs each month on Kagen Cloud. Nothing happens until you say yes.

  3. Before anything changes

We set everything up in parallel

Your mailboxes, website and DNS records are created on Kagen Cloud while your old provider keeps running. We copy your website and check it on a preview address.

  4. On the day

We switch, at a quiet time you choose

You change your domain's nameservers at your registrar (we walk you through it on the phone, or do it with you) and the portal confirms when it's connected. Email and the website move together.

  5. Right after

We copy your old email across

Folders, messages and contacts from your old mailboxes, copied into Kagen Mail. Anything that arrived at the old provider during the switch is copied too.

  6. When you're happy

    You cancel the old provider

We tell you when it's safe. Until then, both keep working, so there's no gap.

What we'll ask you for

Most of it is on a bill or in an email from your current providers. Don't have it? We'll help you find it.

  • The login for where your domain is registered (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Google, Squarespace…)
  • The list of email addresses you use, and who uses each
  • The passwords for those mailboxes, or an admin login, so we can copy old mail
  • Access to your current website host, or a copy of the site
  • Anything else on your domain: booking systems, shops, Google or Microsoft verification
  • Who should get the invoices and who should be able to sign in

What usually moves

From GoDaddy, Bluehost, Wix

A website and a few mailboxes

The most common move. Usually done in a week, with the switch itself taking an evening.

From Google Workspace or Microsoft 365

Email for a team

We copy mail, folders and contacts, then switch the domain's mail records. Calendars can be exported and imported.

From a server in the office

Apps and files

Shared files, a database, an accounting app: moved to storage, a server or an app from our marketplace.

Questions about moving

What does the move cost?

For a typical small business (a website and a handful of mailboxes), moving is part of getting started. Bigger moves are quoted in the plan, before anything happens.

Do I have to move my domain registration?

No. It stays where it's registered. You only change its nameservers, and we walk you through it.

Will my website go down?

No. The site runs on Kagen Cloud before the switch, so visitors reach either the old or the new copy, never nothing.

What if something goes wrong?

Switching back is one change at your registrar, and your old provider is still running until you cancel it. We stay on the phone until it works.

Can I move one thing at a time?

Yes. Many people start with email, or with the website, and move the rest later.

Tell us what you have. We'll handle the move.

Call 817-422-8663 or send a request. A person answers, usually the same day.
